HGV Class 1 Driver (Tramper)

Various start times with occasional weekend work

Working as part of the Transport Team undertaking the following duties:

· Farm collections to the required standard , good understanding of the Mnetics system and delivery of Eggs to Stores, RDC and inter depot throughout the UK. Close attention to paperwork accuracy is essential.

· Driving company vehicles in line with legal and company standards.

· Responsibility for the production of the FTA "Driver Vehicle Check and Defect Report" and a correctly completed Tachograph Chart every workday

  • Follow all signs, rules and standards when on the property of suppliers/customers.

· Responsible for reporting any damage or defects on vehicles to the transport team or management and completing all necessary reports to the required standard.

· Protect the value and integrity of product through attentive driving and correct storage (secure and chilled where appropriate).

· Identifying areas of inefficiency and waste, and suggest improvements to the Transport Manager.

· Ensure that he/she is ready to commence work at the defined start-time and that ongoing issues are properly passed over to the oncoming administrator at the end of a shift.

· Concur with the company dress-code at all times, including the wearing of safety-shoes and company PPE (hairnets when in the factory).

  • Conduct any necessary training required for the role. The jobholder should be prepared to work in different areas of the department as required. Farm work is an essential part of the role.
  • Support the warehouse department with loading and unloading vehicles when and if necessary.
  • Responsible for completion of any shunting duties and ad hoc gritting and so on.

· Foster a constructive relationship with all departments and ensure lines of communication are open.

  • Be mindful of product quality, integrity and traceability. Ensure work is completed to a high-standard, and all necessary documentation is completed. Report any concerns to the relevant line manager
  • The operation is committed to being “audit-ready” at all times. Therefore it is imperative that site hygiene, health & safety, and document control are all in line with customer specifications at all times.
  • Maintain a respectful and constructive working relationship with colleagues and managers.
  • To check vehicle roadworthiness and conduct minor repairs.
  • Dock and undock trailers / vehicles from the loading bays as required.
  • Ensure that all areas of the distribution department are clean, safe and clear from debris.

The Candidate:

  • You will have extensive driving experience and as minimum must hold a C + E HGV licence and a current driver CPC. Ideally must be Class 1 standard albeit training may be given to Class 2 drivers to get them past the Class 1 standard in the initial six months.
  • You will also be punctual,professional, with good communication skills and excellent customer service and a flexible working approach.
