Job content

  • To provide advisory support to citizen science participants who will be contributing to the Hedgehog Project by installing camera traps in their back garden
  • To provide logistical support to facilitate monthly camera trap collection and return sessions at Chester Zoo
  • To answer queries from participants via email and telephone and manage the Hedgehog Project email inbox
  • To monitor completion of pre- and post-participation surveys and communicate reminders as required
  • To provide support to maintain functionality of 100 camera traps with respect to batteries and storage space
  • To coordinate and minute project team meetings


The successful candidate will have:

  • High degree of numeracy and literacy
  • ‘A’ Level qualifications or above
  • Sound working knowledge of computer software systems e.g. Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills whether by phone, face to face or via email
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment as part of a team and on own initiative
  • An understanding of and affinity to the organisation’s mission, vision and values, in addition to an understanding of its conservation work

The hours of work are 20 hours per week, worked over five days Monday to Friday.
