30 Hours per weekThis post is a Non -Clinical post and the duties will include:-
  • To perform non nursing duties in order to promote the comfort and well being of the baby and parent.
  • To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, communicating effectively with all levels of medical and nursing staff.
  • To uphold the Neonatal Directorate Nursing Philosophy of Care.
Main Duties Include
  • Take responsibility for stocking up all incubators, cots and cupboards of consumables on a daily basis and following emergency situations.
  • Monitoring the ward stock levels of all consumables and in conjunction with the stores department, ensure adequate supplies of all stock on the Unit.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control following the Trusts hospital infection prevention and control policies and procedures to protect patients, staff and visitors from health care associated infections.
  • To maintain general tidiness of the Unit and assist with the daily damp dusting.
  • Support families of the babies on the Unit, in particular those families staying in the parents flats, ensuring they have adequate provisions
  • To undertake the cleaning of all ward equipment, including incubators, IV pumps, etc to exceptionally high standards.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is situated within the Community Centre of the Trust and cares for sick and preterm babies from some 5500 deliveries and growing each year. The Trust is one of the largest acute health care providers in the North East and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in particular is expanding.
