Role Overview – Main purpose and cope of the job

  • To deliver high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) competence in all TS&S working environments and facilitate legal compliance and best practice.
  • To implement policies and procedures to support the business in achieving and maintaining environmental and sustainability compliance certification (such as ISO9001/14001) through accredited bodies.
  • To deliver competent HSE advice and support for managers to ensure that RA’s, investigations, inspections, audits, and non-conformances are addressed appropriately.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor, assist and advise managers and staff to comply with processes to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure RA and incident investigations are conducted to appropriate standards with legal and management requirements.
  • Coordinate with managers / staff to seek compliance with corrective / preventative actions arising from audits, investigations, and interactions.
  • Conduct trend analysis - / incident investigations / audit actions / non conformities, and make recommendations to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensuring HSE processes and policies are appropriately developed / compliant / audited / measurable, and reported on, to ensure continual improvement.
  • To implement, monitor and advise on strategic Health, Safety and Environmental management systems
  • To develop, co-ordinate, implement and monitor safe working systems and processes
  • To develop and implement training plans which ensure all employees and directors receive training necessary to ensure compliance.
  • To ensure that Health & Safety performance data is effectively documented and analysed for improvement plans to be developed
  • Develop systems for strategic Health, Safety and Environmental requirements on changes to legislation
  • Ensure implementation of procedural change to comply with new working practice/legislation
  • Conduct Health and Safety inspections and make recommendations for improvement in line with current legislation
  • Report to the Leadership Team on all audit findings, recommendations, and action plans
  • Undertake site inspections as necessary to ensure compliance with safe working practices Accident/Incident Investigations/Outcomes
  • Investigating incidents, accidents, near misses and produce detailed, factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement
  • Ensuring that any incident that falls within the scope of RIDDOR is reported to the HSE
  • Conduct any Health & Safety Training as required, including health & safety briefings to new permanent and temporary team members.
  • Advise individuals/teams on personal safety issues as requested
  • Identify Health and Safety training needs – in conjunction with HR
  • Monitor external training provision
  • Manage Health & Safety training budget (in conjunction with HR) General
  • Ensure the effective management of health and safety arrangements of staff, contractors, and customers.
  • Fire drills and reporting.
  • Emergency equipment test and service arrangements.
  • Managing First Aid and related activities.
  • Managing fire exit logs and action plan.
  • Manage all Health & Safety consumables (such as first aid and emergency response consumables) within TS&S UK sites.
  • Liasing with PF concept on the Ecovardis program/certification
  • To perform any other duties which are consistent or commensurate with the role and or as directed by the Head of HR

Environment and Sustainability Management:

  • Lead on the implementation of environmental policies and practices
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with UK, regulation and legislation
  • Promote and raise awareness, at all levels, of the impact of emerging environmental issues
  • Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the T Shirt and sons business on the environment
  • Review of T Shirt and Sons environmental performance and provide reports to senior management meetings.
  • Work closely with other TS&S & PF teams to develop and promote environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Person Specification

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, comfortable communicating with all aspects of the business as required
  • Comfortable using Microsoft office365 suite
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining highest standards of work
  • Comfortable Managing multiple priorities to maintain project progress
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as an ability to work well in a team.

Knowledge Skills and Experience Required

  • Ability to interpret Health and Safety and other relevant legislation (Essential)
  • Proven health, safety, and environmental experience within a similar environment
  • Diploma in Applied Health and Safety / NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Certificate in Environmental Management (desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communications skills with proven experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders
  • A strong technical knowledge across relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Ability to analyse situations and dynamically problem solve to meet ‘HSE requirements’.
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office applications, including, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Good organisational skills in order to manage own workloads and undertake project management and monitoring.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A strong team player who is willing to “roll up their sleeves” to ensure success.
