Job Description

The Health and Safety Advisor will provide guidance and assistance in all aspects of health and safety, managing and maintaining processes that support the system. Manage health and safety training and liaise with both internal and external bodies in the provision of services.

They will also assist in communication of health and safety issues at all levels and drive initiatives that improve understanding and awareness across the business and be able to provide health and safety guidance and input on Policy within DCS where applicable.

You will be responsible for accident and incident reporting and investigation and participate in health and safety meetings across the business to ensure effective communication across Business Areas and update them on progress within DCS.

Working closely with Facilities the Health and Safety Advisor will provide assistance in relation to health and safety guidance to support Planned Preventative Maintenance and effective management of building systems and processes. Working with compliance team and share best practice and knowledge across the whole compliance perspective the Health and Safety advisor will maintain health and safety information and manage all information on SharePoint portal to ensure compliance through document control.

A full UK driving licence will be required as the Health and Safety advisor is to carry out health and safety inspections as required across DCS sites (UK-wide) and report, review and monitor findings and actions required. Assisting with engagement with external bodies in relation to health and safety to keep abreast of changes and to benchmark the Health and Safety advisor will keep abreast of system changes and advances and ensure health and safety are using the most effective process available to deliver training and information .

The Health and Safety Advisor will manage DSE queries and provide assistance and advice where necessary to DSE users and their managers, through liaison with HR and Facilities to effect correct provision of equipment and provide advice from a health and safety perspective on workplace adaptations where appropriate.

Qualifications
  • NEBOSH NGC in Occupational Health & Safety (Certificates required at Interview Stage)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Licence required at Interview Stage)
  • Previous experience within a Health & Safety Advisory role
  • Health & Safety Administration
  • IOSH Member to TechIOSH
  • Numerate / literate
  • PC literate – knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Team Player
  • Self-motivated and organised
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexible and approachable
  • Ability to prioritise and able to work under own initiative
  • Training Experience - ability to develop and deliver training packages
  • Coaching / guiding / motivational
  • Environmental awareness
