Head of Supply Chain

Our client is a rapidly growing retailer with over 180 stores in the UK and a growing online and international business. They have opened over 30 new UK stores in the past two years and have ambitious plans for further growth including partnership retail models. They are massively customer centric and really care about their people, customers and the communities in which they trade in.

They are now looking to bring in a Senior Head of Supply Chain to be based from their brand new head office in Amersham. As Head of Supply chain you will provide overall leadership across our global supply chain operation, enabling the function to deliver a first class service experience to online and store customers in a cost effective and efficient manner. You will also help design, develop and implement the supply chain strategy for the business to support the next phase of the business’s growth. The position forms part of the Senior Leadership Team within the brand which provides direction and support to the wider business and is key in linking internal teams together to drive end to end efficiencies and clarity of purpose.

Head of Supply Chain - Responsibilities

• Lead teams across our UK and International operations, including inbound freight management and export operations to constantly strive for outstanding service and efficiency

• Ensure supply chain facilities have robust forward-looking operational and capacity plans to efficiently drive great service and operating costs.

• Work closely with 3PL Partners to ensure they have plans and resources in place to deliver group requirements to agreed budgets across all our operations

• Produce and deliver robust financial plans for the supply chain operations with effective KPI monitoring.

• Manage Partners to ensure outstanding service, cost control and partnership development

• Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met across all facilities including proactive strategies to manage the well-being of colleagues working in the function.

• Drive a culture of continuous improvement through curiosity and remaining in touch with industry trends

• Drive the design development and implementation of the supply chain strategy aligned to the business omni-channel growth plans

• Work across facilities and head office as required to provide effective leadership for a team of 6 direct reports and ensure the supply chain organizational design evolves to meet the business needs.

• Develop positive close working relationship with all internal teams in particular the Supply Chain Planning & Allocation Team to maximise product availability and efficient distribution of product.

Head of Supply Chain – Required Skills

• Minimum 10 years working in Supply Chain and Logistics operations.

• Multi-site retail and ecommerce experience

• Experience in working with organsiations undergoing and delivering significant supply chain re-organisation

• Ability to influence people/groups at various levels of the organization.

• Track record in planning, organising, leading and motivating teams

• Strong experience/knowledge of 3PL business and operators and in building great, productive relationships for mutual benefits.

• Good negotiation skills and communication skills

• Ability to work under pressure with a calm level-headed proactive approach.

• Good numeracy, system skills and experienced in WMS and spreadsheets.
