The Head of Supply Chain is a newly created position that will work in a matrix structured, multinational manufacturer that supplies into an array of markets such as FMCG, Engineering, Aviation, pharmaceutical, Automotive and consumer goods sectors.

The Head of Supply Chain is very much a hands-on, sleeves rolled up position with the person having the self-drive and motivation to exceed, with the necessary skills to lead and mentor the team to deliver a first class operation. Strong systems knowledge is essential, and experience with Mechanical and Electrical Component supply chain experience from global sources is important.

The candidate must have experience in Strategy Business and Supply Chain Planning that highlights risk and mitigates against the supply of materials while achieving operational improvements across all areas of the supply chain.

Experience in MRP systems, procurement, planning and international logistics preferably gained in Automation or a relative industry is key. As you’ll be working closely with commercial, product / design development and operations teams to achieve the OTD to customer. Experience of working in matrix structured operations whist not vital would be advantageous.

Role Objectives
  • Support the Group Supply Chain Strategy with help from the Group Supply Chain Director and UK Operations Director develop the supply base to deliver the strategic objectives of the business
  • To oversee and be responsible for the introduction and development key operational outcomes that drive efficiencies in Group Supply Chain Reporting, Improved Supply Plans, Improved Supplier Performance and Material Availability that improve OTD
  • Develop the reporting of all KPI’s to deliver excellence across all areas
  • To fully review the supply chain structure of the business and ensure it is robust and has the necessary processes and technology required for the next 3-5 years
  • To take on the overall role of procurement for the business and set in place the infrastructure to minimise lead times and ensure feasible buying decision that tackle availability of materials, MOQ’s, price, correct inventory stock holds that meet future demand and quality
  • Develop a comprehensive monthly forecasting system to provide the foundations for managing the operational requirements of the business
  • To be a key member of the senior management team and contribute to the overall strategy for the supply chain and operation of the business
  • To develop the strategy, implement the structure and processes to make the operations of the business leading class providing flexibility to the commercial demands
  • To work with other senior managers and directors to move the business to a more environmentally acceptable
  • To develop a sourcing strategy for the business to take advantage of opportunities that will become available during its development
  • To build strong partnerships with core suppliers to underpin the business future success
Person Specification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management with an emphasis on Sourcing within a Manufacturing or similar operations-based business
  • Proven Management and Leadership experience
  • Experience of managing ERP systems to drive accurate forecast information
  • Proven experience of improvement in the Supply Chain strategy and planning that impact real change
  • Proven experience in highlighting any supply chain risks both operationally and financially
  • Proven material planning strategy implementation
  • Proven influencing skills at all levels
  • Illustrate previous experience in Supply Chain activities
  • Have Supply Chain and Procurement competence that will reduce lead-time and cost to the business
  • Establish the Supply Chain participate and add value to engineering, sales, marketing and other departments
