Position: Head of SHEQW Location: Stanley House, Anthony’s Way, Medway City Estate, Rochester, ME2 4NF Line Reporting Manager: Chief Operation Officer Principle Duties and Accountabilities: Advise all levels of management within the business and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ related legislation, rules and company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of company and contractors sites. Roles and Responsibilities: Determine the strategic direction and work priorities , ( in conjunction with the board of directors for the continuous improvement of the company and site SHEQ management program and systems . To complete prevention inspections on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same To investigate fully accidents and ensure all documentation is accurate and updated To develop a monthly SHEQ communication strategy for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs Full completion of duties of CDM coordinator as required by the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 Liaise with HR and training Department for initiating and coordinating training plan and updating information for personal, and audit requirements To assist in retaining all current quality accreditations and works towards the attainment of new quality accreditations Advises line management in Depots/Departments and on site of health, safety, quality and environmental matters and manages this process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day to day processes and operations Leads the company in meeting its obligations under the Control of Major Accident Hazards regulations 2015 Provides support and expertise to line management in incident investigation and reporting Facilitate all forms of risk assessment e.g. general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and acts as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site Conducts occupational health and safety related surveys e.g. noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and makes associated recommendations Produces and coordinates the yearly SHEQ action plan and longer term SHEQ roadmap, prepares reports for monthly update of same to Group Services Meetings Monitors the site permit to work system to ensure compliance with Company standards Assists with tender/ submissions documentation The Head of SHEQW Health and Safety Responsibilities are: To enforce the company health and safety policy To ensure and monitor the health, safety and welfare of all employees/sub contractors To influence and promote a positive health, safety culture within the organisation and lead by example To arrange and assist with IMS527 Senior Manager tour of either crews, depots, offices, workshops and contractors To investigate all occupational accidents and incidents using the company 2, 2, 2 process and produce detailed reports with supplementary evidence To report all health, safety and environmental incidents under RIDDOR when required by the legislation To ensure awareness of the company fire and first aid arrangements, and emergency evacuation procedure Qualifications / Competency: Experience within the water industry or environmental sector desirable, including high pressure water jetting and confined space working Appreciation of field based work, street working and vehicle fleet operations desirable IT literate, and in particular familiar with Microsoft Office Dealing with all parties professionally NEBOSH qualification Environmental Management systems qualifications .CMIOSH status
