Head of Safety and Compliance | Gloucestershire | £60,000-£70,000 per annum
The Head of Safety and Compliance will play a key role in supporting the Managing Director to ensure the business delivers operational and strategic excellence in all matters relating to Estate and Facilities management and is compliant with all current legal and NHS regulatory requirements.
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the post holder will work collaboratively across all areas within the organisation with a key interest in Compliance and Assurance, with close liaison, and ability to challenge the senior leadership and management teams to provide governance and risk management expertise, technical advice and compliance assurance.
The post holder will also need to work across wider organisational boundaries to ensure effective, open, and transparent governance, risk and incident management arrangements are in place which are robust, monitored auditable.
The postholder will lead and manage the safety and compliance team, providing the Managing Director and Board with assurance on compliance activities across all services. Working closely with both the Senior Management and Senior Leadership teams to audit and improve the provision of services in accordance with the latest NHS standards.
Responsibilities:
· To lead on the strategic development and operational delivery of the compliance agenda for all services across the business.
· To review and assess existing compliance levels and against any gaps in governance, generate action plans and oversee implementation of these plans within the business to deliver the objectives.
· Ensure there is a robust auditing and reporting regime in place to monitor adherence to NHS regulations and standards.
· Ensure all estates and facilities management systems, processes and practices are consistent across the company releasing maximum efficiencies.
· Developing and ensuring accuracy of estates and facilities maintenance and management records held by the Business Managers, including records of inspections and compliance documentation.
· Provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive and at times highly contentious information, using persuasive and motivational, skills will be required to ensure there are no barriers to understanding.
· Responsible for the development and implementation of a range of compliance policies and procedures.
· To compile and present assurance reporting to Trust and the Board and sub-committees on compliance levels, action plans and associated risks.
· Chairing of a range of meeting specifically compliance meetings.
· Attendance at specialist services meetings to obtain assurance and drive improvements in the compliance agenda.
Skills, experience
- Proven experience gained at senior management level in a similar role within the Healthcare, or wider public sector.
- Educated to master’s degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent level of Risk & Safety Management Competency/Professional qualification in discipline related to health and safety, e.g., Master’s in Risk and Safety Management
- Member of professional body e.g., Chartered Member of the Institute of Safety and Health (CMIOSH (Chartered Member of the Institute of Safety and Health)), or member of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM)).
- Extensive experience of managing diverse professional teams in the implementation of change and business improvement and associated budgets.
- Extensive relevant safety operational management at senior level.
- Experience in the management of project works to address non-compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience of working with a variety of construction contracts and frameworks.
