As a market-leader in their industry, our very reputable client is on the hunt for an experienced Head of Purchasing to join their offices in Nottingham on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an excellent communicator and negotiator to join a large business to manage the purchasing team in sourcing new products and negotiating the best terms for the business.

To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:
  • Current or recent experience of working within a strategic level role within an established Purchasing function
  • Strong Team Leading & Management Skills
  • Driven by results including cost savings, improving business performance, reducing lead time and inventory control
  • Previous experience in either an Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing or Retail industries
  • Confident with sourcing and supplier management
  • Excellent negotiation skills and overall business acumen
The ideal candidate will have excellent team development skills, a solid understanding or experience of systems development and ability to demonstrate commerciality through contractual processes.

Within This Position, You’ll Also Be
  • Managing the overall Purchasing department and team, including the development of new systems and processes
  • Accountable for the cost, quality, reliability and delivery of products sourced
  • Negotiating and influencing suppliers to achieve best overall results
  • Identifying improvement areas around processes and procedures
  • Developing and owning appropriate KPIs to measure performance
  • Liaising with and negotiating ongoing optimum terms with new and existing suppliers
  • Controlling purchase of products, capital and non-capital lines as per the replenishment requirements or sales forecasts and expediting orders once placed
  • Optimising stock turnover by ensuring adequate/frequent ordering and liaising with suppliers to provide product sales forecasts
  • Ongoing monitoring of product failure rates and negotiate resolution with suppliers
  • Liaising with suppliers to obtain contributions to marketing
Salary & Working Hours

Salary is £55,000 - £68,000pa dependant on skills and level of experience

Working hours are Monday – Friday

Occasional travel and overnight stays will be required
