To provide nursing and clinical leadership to all wards within the Directorate and to work with the wider senior nurse group within the Division. You will define the professional models to be used within the directorate and, with support of a Clinical Quality Matron and physical healthcare team, provide a service based in best practice that provides the very best care to our patients. The Head of Nursing carries a lead role within the Directorate and provides nursing advice, leadership and professional challenge and support to the Directorate Management Team.The purpose of this role is also to provide leadership to clinical teams regarding maintaining safe clinical environments and management responsibilities for a small team.The Directorate Head of Nursing is a key member of the senior Directorate clinical team. Working closely with the Clinical Quality Matron, Clinical Nurse Practitioners, Ward/team Managers, team leader / deputy roles, Physical Health care leads, clinical leads, operational managers, service managers and the Directorate clinical teams. The Head of Nursing will play a main role in driving forward the professional nursing agenda within inpatient services. This will include safer staffing, reducing restrictive practices, infection prevention and control, professional standards, developing systems and monitoring dashboards to drive quality improvement and contribute to the development of the strategic direction of clinical services.Divisional Role - Safe Clinical EnvironmentEach Head of Nursing will lead on specific divisional wide projects, negotiated with their General Manager and Associate Director of Nursing.
