Purpose Of The Post

The Intelligence and Analysis Team sits within the Operational Delivery Directorate of the IMA and supports all aspects of the IMA’s work. The team will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring the IMA collects appropriate data and intelligence;
  • Working with strategy and communications colleagues in the IMA to gather external picture of potential issues with stakeholders, government departments and public authorities;
  • Ensuring data is appropriately organised and developing data reports;
  • Providing insights to support operational decisions, including analysing trends in complaints received to identify potential systemic issues.
  • Monitoring the compliance of public authorities with their agreed actions
The Head of Intelligence and Analysis will report to the Director of Operational Delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team of intelligence analysts to coach, mentor and support their capability and development to deliver an effective intelligence function.
  • Develop, maintain intelligence processes, tools and products to assist in decision making, identifying risks and threats to the business and ensure compliance with national standards and any relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Deliver and review the collection and collation of appropriate and robust data and intelligence reports;
  • Identify, plan and to utilise effective intelligence resources as needed to ensure operational/functional effectiveness.
  • Interpret policy to develop and review intelligence systems, processes and practices to ensure improvements adopting a continuous improvement approach.
  • Working with strategy and communications colleagues in the IMA to gather external picture of potential issues with stakeholders, government departments and public authorities;
  • Utilise intelligence feedback from consultations to ensure intelligence is informed and to providing strategic insights to support operational decisions, including analysing trends in complaints received to identify potential systemic issues.
  • Ensure collaboration with colleagues across government and wider intelligence networks to share intelligence, latest innovations and best practice

Essential Skills
  • Excellent quantitative analytical skills with experience of leading analysis to inform decision making;
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including at a senior level;
  • Demonstrable skills in leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team to build team engagement and continuously improve team skills and capabilities;
  • Demonstrable ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including the ability to work across different government departments to achieve best result.

Qualifications

You should have an undergraduate degree at a minimum of 2:1, or 2:2 with a postgraduate degree or relevant work experience. This degree should be in a relevant numerate or relevant social science discipline. Numerate degrees include but are not limited to: mathematics; statistics; operational research; physics; engineering; econometrics. Social Science degrees include but are not limited to: economics; economic or social history; human geography; social policy; political science and international studies.

Location
