Main duties of the job

The Head of Healthcare Law leads the Health Board’s ‘in-house’ legal function ensuring the efficient and effective management of all clinical negligence and public/employers’ liability claims made against the Trust, Inquest matters, application of the Mental Health Act and providing advice on a broad range of other legal matters.

The Head of Healthcare Law is a senior management role within the Quality Directorate as well as a subject matter expert role within the broader Health Board.

The Head of Healthcare Law role will be directed by the Director of Quality and is responsible for ensuring that the Trust is provided with efficient and effective legal services to minimise clinical, financial, operational and legal risks.

The role will provide professional leadership and management of the Health Board wide legal service, including development of robust, auditable frameworks which meet best practice standards and external requirements
