Job description

The Head of Hard Facilities Management is a senior member of our Estates and Facilities department and is responsible for all aspects of hard FM and for all university properties. This role is mainly based at our Frenchay campus but will also cover the entire university estate (predominantly the Bristol area).


You will lead and manage professional services, support strategic planning in order to support the efficient managing of the university estate and be responsible for operational delivery for all major and specialist contracts and operations.


You will develop and manage systems of work for sourcing, specifying and scheduling planned and reactive maintenance across the University estate and manage capital projects linked to the Estates Capital Maintenance (ECM) Plan.


You have experience of leadership and operational management of a Hard FM Services (HFMS) team and the ability to deliver effective and efficient use of allocated resources, including staffing and R&M and ECM budgets.


You are an effective communicator, acting as the key liaison point for the HFMS team with other services and colleges, and a keen facilitator of collaborative working and developing the service.


Furthermore, you can lead and contribute to University wide projects and develop and promote innovative thinking. You are a strategic thinker, who can contribute to the development of University policies and procedures in line with service strategy and plans.

This is a full-time permanent role, working 37 hours per week.


The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
