The role

As the Head of Governance, Risk, and Security (inc. DPO), you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the governance, risk and security functions within the IT department. Your primary focus will be to ensure that IT operations align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational policies. You will play a critical role in safeguarding the company’s information assets, mitigating risks, and maintaining a secure IT infrastructure.

You will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Governance:
    • Develop and implement IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
    • Establish and maintain IT compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
    • Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify areas of improvement and ensure adherence to established policies.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with corporate governance initiatives.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess IT-related risks and vulnerabilities, both internal and external.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, controls, and incident response plans.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and gap analyses to proactively address potential threats.
    • Monitor emerging technology trends and security threats to stay updated on potential risks to the organization.
  • Security:
    • Develop and implement IT security policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Design and maintain a robust IT security architecture to protect the company’s assets and data.
    • Implement and manage security controls, including access controls, network security, and data protection measures.
    • Stay informed about the latest security technologies and industry best practices to enhance the organization’s security posture.
  • Compliance and Audits:
    • Coordinate and support internal and external IT audits and compliance assessments.
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of audit requirements and remediation of identified issues.
    • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure IT systems and processes meet legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain documentation and evidence to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead a approach to governance, risk, and security professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
    • Foster a culture of security awareness and adherence to best practices throughout the organization.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as IT operations, legal, and human resources, to drive a cohesive approach to governance, risk, and security.
  • DPO
    • Advise and ensure data protection compliance.
    • Oversee DPIAs.
    • Act as a contact point for data subjects and supervisory authority.
    • Manage Imagination Technology’s data protection records.
    • Drive education and awareness of data protection to employees.

You’ll have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • CISSP qualified, with proven experience in IT governance, risk management, and security roles
  • In-depth knowledge of industry frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in relevant industries
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and tools
  • Experience in developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and controls
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
