We have a fantastic new opportunity to join our Investment Finance team as Head of Finance Regeneration and Strategic Asset Management. With offices in Basingstoke, Bristol and Christchurch, we can be flexible on your base location. You’ll share your time between the office and home, as well as some travel being required between our offices.

The Role

Reporting into our Finance Director Investment and Commercial, you’ll support Sovereign’s growth objectives by providing deep expertise and strong leadership to a specialist Finance team providing robust financial modelling, deal evaluation, commercial support and performance monitoring for Sovereign’s regeneration and strategic asset management projects.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Leading on providing financial and commercial partnership, advice, support and modelling for regeneration and strategic asset management projects
  • Providing concise insight briefings to Development Directors, the Group Board and its subcommittees focusing on deal structure, tax implications, key risks and mitigations, as well as key return measures such as residual land value, profit margins, peak debt, ROCE, IRR and NPV
  • Leading on the design and delivery of sensitivity and scenario analysis on projects and assessing the viability of potential exit strategies
  • Taking the lead on assessing the suitability and viability of development partners
  • Overseeing all financial reporting for Sovereign’s regeneration and asset management projects, including management accounts, statutory accounts and programme reporting, ensuring outputs are timely, accurate and comply with relevant accounting standards
  • Leading scrutiny of financial information from regeneration and asset management projects, making sure Directors fully understand project performance and are well placed to make informed decisions
  • Ensuring timely, clear and accurate development cash flow information is reported to inform Treasury planning
What We’re Looking For

You’ll have previous experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of providing financial and commercial expertise successfully for urban regeneration and strategic asset management projects in a real estate context. You’ll have a deep background in regeneration, real estate or property development, either on the client side or as a consultant, and you’ll hold a full recognised accountancy qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in financial accounting
  • Demonstrable in-depth expertise in regeneration and/or strategic asset management projects
  • A track record of building trusting and credible relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Strong IT skills including advanced Excel financial modelling expertise and ideally be a highly skilled user of real estate appraisal software such as Proval, Pamwin, Sequel, Landval or Argus
  • A strong analytical mind with a high attention to detail to ensure your data, insight and recommendations are accurate and reliable
Experience in managing, motivating and developing a team is important to this role, with a focus on delivering exceptional service to the business. You’ll be confident communicator with a flair for producing insightful, succinct commentary for senior stakeholders.
