Head of Engineering (Electrical)

This position is for a forward-thinking Head of Engineering who wants to be challenged every day. To be a successful Head of Engineering you will need the ability to take complex problems and form Cable Assembly solutions that meet quality standards in a multitude of sectors that include Defence, Aerospace, and Nuclear, just to name a few.

The Role;

· You will be technically responsible for the entire product lifecycle, including new product development from inception through to launch, and engineering the build of cable assemblies to AS9100D standards

· You will lead and manage a multidisciplinary Engineering team.

· Develop a cohesive and high-performing engineering culture that embraces engineering best practices.

· Lead, motivate, and performance manage staff.

· Take ownership of NPI, product development roadmap, and product life cycle management.

· Ensure all products are commercially viable, and efficient to manufacture and meet the quality and business expectations.

· Enable and participate in monthly senior management meetings.

· Support procurement and supplier selection from technical aspects.

· Establish and promote best practices in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with HSE lead.

· Pre-scope the project, and identify and address potential pitfalls.

· Hold kick-off and wash-up meetings.

· Hold regular reviews.

· Ensure regular communication with the customer.

· Keep the SMT and relevant informed of project status.

· Develop and embed processes to ensure projects run smoothly.

· Ensure all projects are completed with relevant documentation including works instructions.

· Ensure all documentation including technical queries and associated costs are recorded.

· Ensure delivery of complete on-time, on-budget projects.

· Build good working relationships with internal colleagues and external customers.

· To oversee, and provide guidance and support to the Engineering Technical Support engineers on all matters and associated duties relating to projects.

· Validate costs and identify opportunities for innovation, improvements, and cost savings.

· Liaise with suppliers, customers, and others as required.

Candidate Requirements;

· HND, HNC, time served in Electrical Engineering

· Engineering the build of cable assemblies to AS9100D standards

· Proven people-management skills.

· Previous experience in leading projects

· Ability to run an engineering department

· Experience in managing engineering teams including building and leading productive, high functioning, and distributed teams

· Ability to work with product teams in defining tasks and creating roadmaps

· Ability to foster and create positive engineering cultures

· Ability to communicate with technical and business stakeholders

· Past experience working in a highly regulated industry

· Experience working for global companies with multiple geographies

· A dedicated technical professional with a proven track record.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience at a senior engineer level within an engineering/technical department in a manufacturing business.

· Detailed knowledge of design for manufacture.

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience or working to achieve KPI targets.

Project management skills, particularly resource scheduling and proven on-time project delivery.
