Whistlefish is a thriving UK-based company that operates in the retail and wholesale industry. With 12 retail outlets across the South West of England and a successful e-commerce platform, we are known for our unique blend of greetings cards, framed art, gifts and home accessories.

Job Description:

As the Head of Design at Whistlefish, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s brand strategy and marketing initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Whistlefish brand remains innovative, relevant, and resonates with our target audience. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend creativity with strategic thinking, while contributing to the growth and success of a beloved British brand.

Key Responsibilities:

Brand Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive brand strategy that aligns with Whistlefish’s business objectives, including brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity.

Marketing Campaigns: Support the Marketing Manager to plan, coordinate, and oversee marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, and social media, to increase brand awareness and drive sales.

Content Creation: Collaborate with creative teams to produce compelling and on-brand content, including graphics, videos, and blog posts.

Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and opportunities for growth, and use this data to inform marketing strategies.

PR and Media Relations: Alongside the Marketing Manager, develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and influencers to secure media coverage and partnerships that enhance brand visibility.

Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget effectively, allocating resources to initiatives that deliver the highest ROI.

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyse marketing performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to optimise campaigns and strategies.

Product Launches: Work closely with the product development team to plan and execute successful product launches, ensuring brand consistency and maximum impact.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including sales, design, and production to ensure brand and marketing strategies align with overall business goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or a related field.
  • Proven experience in brand management and marketing, with a track record of successful campaigns and brand development.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and analytics platforms.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas.
  • Understanding of the stationery and art market is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the UK market and consumer trends.
