The role As the Head of Corporate Information Systems, you will lead and manage the function strategically and operationally, motivating a team of around 20 technical professionals that support the universities top quality information systems. The University’s Corporate Information Systems teams include Business Systems, Learning Technologies, and Collaboration and Research. This strategic role will become a member of the Computing and Library Services senior management team and take on cross-departmental responsibilities as appropriate. You will take responsibility for the development of the CIS strategy ensuring its integration with the overall digital and enterprise strategic plans. You will lead on associated vendor relationships and identify developments and emerging technologies that will enhance the University CIS provision. You will lead and/or participate in associated projects to plan and implement appropriate technical developments across the University. Your profile Significant experience of leading a relevant technical team in a highly pressurised, large complex environment Some prior experience in a Higher Education role, and a good understanding of Higher Education functions and processes Normally qualified to degree level in a computing or other IT related subject; a lesser qualification may be acceptable with equivalent professional experience Hands-on experience of developing and implementing common business applications and associated business processes. Higher Education specific technologies would be highly desirable but not essential e.g. SITS, Unit4 Agresso, Brightspace, SharePoint Online, Syllabus Experience of service delivery in a mixed on-premise / SaaS / hybrid cloud infrastructure environment would be advantageous Understanding of web/database technologies, particularly SQL server and IIS would be ideal Understanding of GDPR and its implications on corporate information systems Understanding of business intelligence solutions and their implementation and on-going management.
