About the job

This role sits within the D&I and Change team, a small team that leads on organisational culture and oversees the department’s ambition to be the most diverse and inclusive government department by 2025.

The team provides expert advice on D&I and OD and leads on the overarching People Strategy for the department including conducting an annual review of the D&I strategy and periodic refresh using evidence and insight to set the strategic direction. The team ensures the delivery of evidenced based interventions to address priorities and supports culture change activity across a number of people strategy priorities eg inclusion, performance and reward, hybrid and future ways of working. The team also leads on Corporate induction and people survey.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be a flexible manager with a focus on delivery who is used to having oversight and management of a wide portfolio of projects and change initiatives. You will:
  • Be able to lead a broad portfolio of D&I project areas working flexibly and at pace
  • Have excellent project delivery skills
  • Be skilled in data analysis and evaluation to inform priorities around operational and cultural change
  • Be able to build and maintain a wide range of stakeholder relationships
  • Have the ability to resolve complex issues and make sound decisions based on experience and judgement
  • Have a solid understanding of the Project Delivery and/or HR profession
Responsibilities
  • Leading on a variety of projects to foster inclusion: You will deliver a range of evidence based D&I initiatives across areas that include anti-racism and mental health. You will work in partnership with subject matter experts across People and Workplace and our departmental networks to support us to be the most diverse government department by 2025
  • Leading on a project to increase disabled representation: You will work across HR teams and the business to develop and deliver interventions that help us to recruit and retain people with a disability. This will include identifying and delivering improvements to our current systems and processes working across a range of disciplines.
  • Leading on the delivery of the Annual Review: You will plan and deliver our independent review of the Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
  • Leading on the delivery of a number of priority change projects relating to our broader People Strategy: You will take responsibility for delivering a portfolio of projects which will be determined by data and evidence to support the improvement of our HR service offering
Essential Requirements
  • Excellent project management and delivery skills including development of scoping documents, project initiation documentation, delivery plans and risk management.
  • Experienced in taking a customer/user perspective and developing and delivering process improvements to improve service delivery
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills - able to build relationships across boundaries and deliver results through others outside of formal line management relationships
  • Skilled in data analysis and evaluation to inform priorities around operational and cultural change
  • Awareness of OD principles and practice which can be applied to bring about change including knowledge/awareness of how to build a diverse and inclusive culture
  • Excellent communication skills adapted to suit a range of audiences

After submission of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Judgement test. You must be successful at each stage to progress to the next test. If successful and transferring from another Government Department a criminal record check maybe carried out.
