What We’re Looking For

We’re hiring a new lead for our growing behavioural science offering and need an experienced behavioural scientist to join a unique kind of department; our Innovation + Creative Hub where an uncommon blend of specialists collaborate at the heart of our agency and work across an enviable client list of global brands.

The role will take over leadership of H+K SMARTER, our specialist behavioural insights and strategies unit. It combines the latest behavioural science theory with new research tools to help create smarter, more effective communications.

The role is perfect for a creative and strategic thinker; someone who can interpret data and identify opportunities to apply it in a business context, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts in a way people understand. They will have a proven ability to design, create and run campaigns to better understand people’s decisions and behaviours, and drive change.

As Head of Behavioural Science in London, they will be responsible for directing and shaping the way we use behavioural science to better inform and run campaigns. They will be responsible for understanding and evolving the holistic SMARTER offer and driving this business within the London office.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead on UK client briefs from premier brands across our sectors, supporting clients in the best way to use behavioural science
  • Work with the behavioural scientists within SMARTER to design research projects and test propositions, analyse and present research results
  • Build collaborative trusting relationships with your colleagues in the UK and around the globe, helping them understand the capabilities that behavioural science techniques can bring to their clients
  • Regularly create and share thought leadership through blogs, articles, research projects and speaking engagements.
  • Responsibility for further growing the UK team, including hiring and line management
  • Responsibility for pricing offers and running the commercial elements of the team.
What You’ll Need To Get Here
  • A master’s degree or equivalent work experience; or working to complete postgraduate studies. This should be in behavioural science or a related discipline
  • Significant experience applying behavioural science insights in a real-world setting, preferably in a client advisory capacity
  • experience in applying behavioural science approaches to real-world challenges
  • ability to integrate behavioural science thinking into campaigns
  • skills in analysing and presenting results from research trials, including randomised controlled trials and other quasi-experimental methodologies
  • experience in academic research
  • strong experience in working with data and performing statistical analysis, including using statistical software packages like SPSS
  • excellent communications skills, able to articulate complex issues clearly to colleagues, small groups and large audiences in both written and verbal form
  • knowledge of the financial drivers of a business
  • proven understanding of trends, opportunities within behavioural science and communications, with an ability to identify and act upon “what’s next”
