PGL has a fantastic opportunity for a Head Chef to join our catering team at Newby Wiske Hall, our new activity centre in North Yorkshire.

As Head Chef you will provide a high standard dining experience in a fast-paced environment by providing appetising, nutritious meals and delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that the catering operation complies with all relevant food and health and safety standards and policies;
  • Focusing on all customers including guests, staff and visitors & meeting dietary and allergen requirements whilst ensuring quality of food and service;
  • Managing, training and overseeing the catering team to provide an excellent catering service operation;
  • Managing all financial aspects of the catering operation to ensure maximum value for money and effective cost control;
  • Managing facilities, resources and the working environment to meet all required regulations, policies and standards;
  • Managing yourself, improving your own CPD, and carrying out other duties required for the running of PGL centre operations.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a high-volume catering environment and a City & Guild/NVQ qualification. You will possess up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene regulations and have experience in delivering high levels of customer service. A proactive approach to problem solving, teamwork and sharing knowledge, a keen interest in the development of staff, and excellent organisational and time management skills are also required.
