Job title: GSF Refrigeration Program Manager
Location: flexible across corporate offices in Europe (London, Milan, Madrid, Lux, Munich)

Amazon is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Program Manager to support fast paced expansion of new Amazon Fresh grocery business operations across Europe. Successful candidates will be natural self-starters, comfortable driving business decisions in a fast paced and often ambiguous work environment and interfacing with various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate has strong program management experience combined with a technical/ engineering background. They will require a broad skill set including excellent business judgment, deep curiosity about how things work, strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to define effective processes and mechanisms that scale, and a passion for launching new, sustainable operational models in the refrigeration space. Your superior communication skills, including the proven ability to effectively manage, influence and negotiate with external/internal customers at all levels will be utilized in order to deliver complex operational programs. This individual will coordinate the refrigeration roll-out program at EU-level for Amazon Fresh businesses (including third party). They will also spearhead innovation work-streams for Amazon’s refrigeration design specifications within our ultra-fast grocery business. This will require defining and scoping program requirements and critical path, understanding intricate inter-dependencies within the program, and driving and coordinating cross-functional internal/ external teams to deliver refrigeration solutions on time and on budget, as well as driving standardization and consistency within our network, in order to continuously raise the bar of our operational network.

The role can be based in EU (London, Milan, Madrid, Lux, Munich) with up to 30% of time travelling either domestically within country or to other EU countries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scoping and defining technical refrigeration program requirements and critical milestones for implementation on time and on budget
  • Driving innovation workstreams to define Amazon’s refrigeration design and specification standards at EU level
  • Planning, driving and co-ordinating the execution of all operational functions for successful refrigeration program deliverables
  • Managing cross-functional teams and external suppliers from project scoping to delivery, often operating in ambiguous environments
  • Able to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines whilst maintaining a customer focus
  • Providing detailed, data-driven insight to identify and prioritize opportunities and to shape our refrigeration program and operational decisions, as well as foresee risks, “join the dots” and drive to resolution
  • Proactively build and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders across a range of businesses, with excellent communication skills
  • Develop regular program communication and reporting, including refrigeration roll-out plans, timelines, status updates, post-delivery assessments and performance reviews with acute attention to detail on program status including significant milestones and any conditions which would affect the critical path (program schedule) or program cost
  • Takes ownership and accountability for programs, while maintaining the ability to ask for help, and escalate issues and problems as necessary to keep programs on track
  • Designing program mechanisms to reduce bottlenecks, improve communication, identify risks, and gather feedback from a wide range of worldwide stakeholders

Basic Qualifications
  • Relevant program management experience inclusive of budget management
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Experience in leading high functioning teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (MS Project 2010, Excel, Access)
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Technical/ engineering background (retail refrigeration experience is a plus)
  • Excellent business writing and communication skills to peers and senior leadership teams, with proven ability to write and defend effective business narratives
  • Confidence in operating independently and dealing with ambiguity
  • Proven analytical thinking, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills
  • Previous experience with leading multiple stakeholders across international organizations to drive programs to successful delivery
  • Board-level exposure to program engagement and delivery
  • Ability to travel 30%
  • Fluency in at least one other European language
