The Opportunity

As Group Accountant you will be primarily responsible for providing accurate management reporting for six businesses and you will assist with key decision-making, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.

Some of the key responsibilities for this successful individual would be but no limited to:
  • Accurate and timely production of the group’s consolidated management accounts, financial reporting and other financial information for internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce month end and year end journals including control account reconciliations
  • Production of analytical review to accompany reporting packs
  • Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations
  • Calculation, reconciliation, submission and payment of VAT returns for all group companies
  • Perform checks to ensure accurate record keeping in Company accounting systems, providing feedback to relevant teams where necessary to ensure accuracy maintained
  • Management of the statutory external audit, ensuring the auditors receive accurate and clear information efficiently. Provide information and explanations to the external tax team
  • Complete timely office for national statistics surveys
  • Perform supplier payment run approval checks
  • Assist the Finance Manager and Head of Finance to ensure the group’s financial internal control environment is documented and best practice, and that financial reporting risks are mitigated appropriately
The Candidate

The successful Group Accountant will be/have:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or CIMA)
  • Great technical knowledge and familiarity with FRS 102, basic corporation tax, financial consolidation and acquisition accounting
  • We would also consider a strong management accountant who would be interested in learning and being mentored on group accounting
  • Adaptable to change and complex situations
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced business environment
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and projects and make effective judgements on day-day prioritisation
  • Excellent written, verbal communicator and practices, active listening and inquiry
  • Approachable and professional demeanour
  • A self-starter and fast learner
  • Great with people and external stakeholders
  • Experience in high growth business(es) desirable, but not essential
