Your New RoleWe have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent,Team Leader to join our Scottish Grounds Maintenance account in Dumfries.Amey is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, we are responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response.The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day.By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.The Team Leader plays an important part in looking after all ground’s maintenance on 8 of our school sites on the west coast. We cover all aspects of grounds maintenance, including amenity areas, natural grass sports pitches, synthetic sports surfaces, woodland and planted areas. The wide scope of our service and number of tasks involved give this role a nice variety.The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week.Work-life balance and flexibility are key for our success.   • General maintenance, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, clearing leaves and litter, verges erect and dismantling equipment.
  • Horticulture activities such as planting, pruning and seed setting out, marking sports pitches including grass and tarmac surfaces.
  • Upkeep of artificial, synthetic pitches
  • Tree care, painting sundry equipment, operating light plant and power tools.
  • Undertaking vehicle, tractor, and cutting equipment checks
  • Weather dependant: carrying out site gritting and snow clearing activities.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • The flexibility to be a team player who takes pride in their standard of work, displaying a positive attitude to health & safety in the workplace.
  • A great understanding of Health and Safety Legislation, COSHH
  • A basic knowledge of gardening and horticulture operations
Ideally you will be qualified in the use of ride mower equipment with experience in small grounds maintenance plantand operating light and equipment.In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have PA1 & PA6 (Pesticides) Sports pitch lining to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.What we can offer youWhen you join us, we can offer flexibility, career development, a choice of benefits and support that help you through all life’s ups and downs.
