We place teaching assistants in a variety of settings including SEN schools that cater for pupils with a vast range of mild and complex needs, including Autism, Down Syndrome, VI, HI, ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health and Physical Disabilities.

There are many courses that have transferrable skills that allow you to make a great SEN teaching assistant. Courses involving psychology, sociology, childcare, the arts, physical activity and music can all give someone valuable assets that they can then bring to the classroom.

Some key information about the role:

  • School hours are usually 8:30-3:30
  • Class sizes range from 8-10 pupils
  • Experience or an understanding of SEN is ideal
  • You will be working to support a teacher and a team of TAs in creating a happy, smooth-running learning environment.
  • You could be working in small groups or 1:1 with pupils.
  • Part-time and Full-time roles are available
  • Carnforth area

Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. We recruit for permanent and temporary SEN positions across Suffolk. By taking a temporary role through Breakthrough in Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
