Our Engineering programmes will develop the skills you need to progress, enhance your understanding of engineering and give you the best experience. You’ll gain an insight into all aspects of our business while being supported by your colleagues.

Through a variety of structured placements and personal and professional development, you’ll see different areas of the business across a variety of locations. You’ll be able to take the theory you’ve learned and put it into practice and at the end of the programme you’ll have everything you need to be a brilliant engineer within Northern Powergrid.

We offer two programmes:

Graduate Programme(two years)

Starting salary £32,199 up to £38,089 at the end of the programme.

You’ll have (or expect to attain by Summer 2023) a degree in an appropriate engineering subject for the role you are applying for which must be in one of the following areas:

• Physics

• Mathematical Sciences

• Computer Sciences

• Engineering and Technology (Electrical, Mechanical or Telecommunications)

Technical Trainee Programme(two years)

Starting salary £32,199 up to £38,089 at the end of the programme.

Entry-level qualifications for the role are set at Level 4 or above (HNC or equivalent) and must be detailed on the qualification framework for higher education covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as being in a relevant STEM subject for the role.

Qualifications in the following subjects will be considered:

In addition to the qualification requirements you must also have a minimum of two years’ work experience in a related role, where you have been able to demonstrate the theory you have learnt into practical on-the-job experience.

Successful applicants will receive an invite to our Stage 1 interview by 23 December, with interviews occurring mid-January 2023. A stage 2 assessment centre will then be held in early February 2023 with successful applicants informed by early March.

Expected start dates: April and September 2023
