The role of Training Programme Director is focused on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes and patient safety for GP trainees. This role is continuously evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

You will be based within the East Sussex GP Training Scheme, working with a team of fellow Programme Directors, Deans and Administrators to deliver high quality educational and pastoral support to GP specialty trainees. You will work to deliver the GP curriculum over three years, preparing trainees to achieve MRCGP.

You will engage with colleagues in the Primary Care Department to progress the GP school operational plan, lead on quality management and the development of policies and processes associated with GP training.

This is a unique opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the development of our future doctors and to inspire their interest in education.

You should be a self-motivated individual, able to respond quickly to changing priorities and workloads. Strong leadership skills are essential.

You should have good knowledge of the GP curriculum and associated mandatory requirements and be able to positively influence GP specialty trainees to achieve these. We expect applicants to have extensive knowledge of General Practice and have a current license to practice.

Candidates should be experienced in healthcare education management - which may be achieved through a formal university course or equivalent experience.

You will be a representative of the Primary Care Department and will be expected to be a positive advocate for NHSE at all times. You will promote leadership that inspires, motivates, and empowers all staff, whilst demonstrating the values of the NHS.

Please note, some supporting documentation attached to this vacancy refers to the legacy organisation, previously known as Health Education England, now NHS England. Work is continuing to harmonise the new NHS England recruitment service and any reference to Health Education England will be updated in due course. More information about the transition to the new NHS England is available here.

The Primary Care Department is responsible for the delivery of general practice education, alongside training and development for the multi-professional primary care workforce.

You can expect to be well supported to develop personally and professionally with NHSE, with annual objective setting and learning opportunities available throughout your career.
