Park View Surgeryis an established GP practice serving the healthcare needs of about 4000 patients. The surgery aspires to provide exceptional quality patient care to all its service users in the most cost-effective way. We work as a team to provide our patients with the best possible care and treat our patients with respect and courtesy and would ask the same of our patients.

We are looking for one competent and committed Band 5 registered nurse to provide good quality nursing care to meet the needs of the practice population.

Individuals who are nurses with some secondary nursing care experience and maybe new to general practice are welcome to apply.

Successful candidate must be prepared to attend relevant trainings and participate actively in meetings organised by the surgery. These help to support you in carrying out four key responsibilities as a practice nurse as follows:

Treatment Room Nursing

1. Parameters recording, 12 lead ECGs

2. Wound dressing, STOs, Urinalysis

3. HVS, Cervical Smears

4. Phlebotomy, Injections (Intramuscular/Subcutaneous/Vaccinations for children and adults)

5. Long term Health condition reviews, completing of care plans based on effective use of patient clinical record system

6. Well men/well women clinics based on effective use of patient clinical record system

7. Health screening based on effective use of patient clinical record system

8. Dietary/excise and smoking cessation advice based on effective use of patient clinical record system

9. Chaperoning and/or assist with pessaries/coil fittings and removal

Administrative Role

1. Checking and filing Cervical smears results, blood results, and other investigation results

2. Emergency trolley checks

3. Stock checks

4. Vaccines ordering

5. Management of patient complaint/critical incidents as appropriate

6. Adherence to GDPR protocols

Leadership and Management Role

1. Escalation of care to ANPs/Doctors as necessary

2. Onward of clinical information and coordination of activities with reception and administrative staff

3. Effective use of resources by initiate, monitor and supervise efforts to support effect delivery of care and treatment plans

4. Searches on EMIS and access of patient clinical records to recall patients for tests and review appointments

5. Assessment and audit of infection control standards

6. Cold Chain management

7. Cleaning and caring of medical equipment

8. Supervision of junior staff to maintain cleaning and tidy surgery environment

9. Participation in improvement projects

Continuous Professional Development

1. Active participation and contribution to staff meetings

2. Active participation of trainings, workshops, seminars, lectures organised and/or approved

You are to demonstrate care and support while delivering information and treatment to the patients. You are capable in deliver different levels of communication to ensure clear understanding in respectful manner including treatment plans and ‘bad news’. You are able to prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality. You are also an effective liaison with other staff members and peers in the broader system like care homes, PCN, CCG, NHS111 and CQC.

Park View Surgery is a busy practice that opens from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday. This position requires you to work at least 30 hours per week with a starting salary of no less than £25,000 (FTE) and entitles you to NHS pension.
