If you thrive in a varied, vibrant environment, and are committed to delivering the best outcomes for the client, end users and society then we want to hear from you!We are looking for a confident ground engineer with a desire to develop innovative and pragmatic ways of working, reduce carbon and protect the environment.Your role as a ground engineering specialist will include providing ground interpretation and modelling as well as the design of geotechnical structures and clear communication of ground risks and mitigations to the non-specialist project team. This may include compiling GI enquiries, interpretation and verifying ground investigation data; providing technical supervision of fieldwork and producing interpretive reports.The role is nominally based in our Shifnal office, with projects distributed throughout Severn Trent Waters operational area. On occasion it may be necessary to support other Framework teams across the wider MMBC business unit and as such may be required to travel out of area.You will work as part of an integrated design and build team to develop best-value, sustainable solutions, ensuring delivery to programme and budget, as well as the required technical standards and buildability. You will be supported by an existing Geotechnical team distributed across seven MMB framework contracts with some of the UK’s largest water companies, in addition to our Global Geotechnical Practice groupAs Part Of This Role, You Will
  • Use and further develop your own technical and design delivery skills within a multidisciplinary team,
  • Proactively collaborate with the design, construction and commissioning teams throughout the project stages to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions
  • Engage with the Client to support them in achieving their aims
  • Grow your professional networks, including engagement with our global Mott MacDonald practices and learning from our subject matter experts.
Candidate Specification
  • Higher degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology (MEng/MSc).
  • Competent in the use of industry standard geotechnical design software (e.g., Slope/W, Seep/W, gINT, Leapfrog Works, Settle 3D)
  • Experience in the field of ground engineering in the UK, with a full understanding of the geotechnical lifecycle of construction projects.
  • Good communication, report writing, team working and problem solving skills
  • Experience working in design & build environment and water / wastewater sector desirable but not essential.
  • UK driving licence required
