General Operative

Sittingbourne, Kent

Temporary – Permanent

£12.41 per hour – Overtime is paid at time and a half.

Shift pattern: 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm these are rotating weekly or nights 10pm-6am – the night shifts are fixed.

My client a prominent player in the metal finishing industry is actively seeking to hire a General Operative to join their expanding team.

Full training is provided; however, the ideal candidate will be able to use a variety of hand tools including hand grinders, drills, and wire cutters.

Duties and responsibilities

  • General handling of metal products
  • Hand wiring and grinding of products
  • Operation of overhead crane equipment – Training will be provided
  • Involvement in the metal finishing process
  • Inspection of products to ensure excellent quality products are produced for customers
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment
  • Manual handling – heavy lifting will be part of this position

Person specification

  • Positive with a can do attitude
  • Happy to work in a physically demanding position
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Previous experience in working in manufacturing, production, yard operative or similar roles
