About us:BBSM Ltd is a renewable energy company specialising in the service, maintenance, and installation of commercial biomass boiler systems. The administration office and warehouse are based in Tiverton with 10 staff, and we have a strong group of 20 field engineers based in England, Scotland, and Wales.The Role:We are looking for a high-level person who will develop a deep knowledge of the company by carrying out and be responsible for the many and varied back-office operations and tasks and be able to manage day to day running of the business.Our ideal candidate will have demonstratable experience, and possess a hands-on approach, be responsible, a strong decision maker, who is able to manage people through highly effective communication and leadership skills.Key Objectives:
  • Line management of the office and warehouse staff and act as a support to the rest of the staff.
  • Support the HR Manager or the Senior Management Team in recruiting, disciplining employees, appraisals, probation reviews, the following-up of accidents, communicating values and objectives; reinforcing the guidelines and policies in the staff handbook; developing incentives; providing an open and positive climate for offering information and opinions; helping with the overall training plan and following it through.
  • Manage H&S compliance throughout the business, including making sure procedures are carried out correctly, form filling is done, reinforcing the guidelines, managing Constructionline and SSIP renewal among other things.
  • Overseeing non-technical aspects of engineers’ roles (e.g., timesheets, expenses, overtime etc.) and reviewing procedures.
  • Manage the company’s various insurances.
  • Manage the office real estate and facilities to include the warehouse agreement and all the ongoing utilities, internet and other service contracts.
  • Oversee the company’s vehicle fleet, to include contracts etc. Oversee tools and expenditure on stock and putting procedures in place.
  • Support the finance team, providing a point of escalation for any debts or complaints.
We are looking for:
  • Experience in a hands-on managerial role, preferably in an engineering industry
  • Proficient in computer systems and software
  • Personable and adaptable to work with employees from various backgrounds and levels of ability.
  • A valid UK Driving licence and able to work away from home as necessary to meet the business needs.
