Increase overall Driver Efficiency of the Depot to ensure overall business level profit and KPIs are achieved.Makes sure Arriva’s work activities are done safely. As the accountable manager and duty holder, ensures the effective implementation of UK Bus Safety Standards in connection to the work activities within their area of management control. Always acts with the aim of eradicating unsafe behaviours in connection to work activities and delivering safety standards that exceed legal compliance.
Deliver a consistently reliable, punctual and safe service which exceeds customer expectations
Deliver and improve overall Operational Total Cost (£), EBIT% and service delivery KPIs, by ensuring the effective cascade of the depot priorities, their KPIs/targets and by supporting/reinforcing the daily disciplines of Layered Accountability / root cause problem solving throughout the depot
Be a leader in the depot with a clear vision to enhance staff engagement, ensuring clearly defined plans, processes and levels of accountability
Ensures an effective people plan is in place and managed by Operations to ensure optimum use of resources - right people, right time, right cost
Supports the development and deployment of strategic plans within the Depot and in support of the Area / UK Bus
Leads from the front to ensure Transformation activity is developed, planned, executed and embedded within the Depot, developing both their teams and their own capabilities in Business Excellence techniques in order to deliver effective performance, people and processes to the BE Maturity Model requirements
Be aware of and contribute to the broader commercial environment, taking a key role in Network Development.
Constantly review and monitor all costs within your remit to ensure achievement and ongoing improvement of budgetary targets
As Transport Manager of the operation ensure the correct usage, recording and maintenance of all Company documentation to ensure a visible, clear, concise audit trail is achieved to fulfil company and local statutory obligations regarding working time legislation, operator licensing, quality and health & safety
Manage the local trade union relationships
Undertake any other duties as can reasonably be associated with the role of General Manager
Maintains high environmental standards in relation to all work activities and ensures continual improvement of performance in areas such as utility consumption, waste management, air quality and pollution control through monitoring performance, increasing workforce awareness and individual projects e.g. engine idling3-5 years day to day management accountability of an operational facility, with full P&L ownership, driving revenue, controlling costs and maximising EBIT%/Profit
Experience of leading, managing, motivating and developing high performing teams (50+ team members)
Background in a customer facing environment, capable of understanding and developing customer satisfaction and managing dispute resolutions
Demonstrable experience in creating a safe and continuously improving working environment - IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent safety management accreditation
Capable of translating the Depots Strategic and Annual deliverables in to effective and translateable plans, driving the execution relentlessly through strong governance and a "go & see" approach which ensures sustainable change
Experience of working in partnership with Trade Union representative
Proficient IT Skills
Well developed Commercial and customer awareness
Effective with written and verbal communications
Well-developed organisational, negotiating, decision- making, analytical and leadership skills
Holder of Manager CPC or equivalent (or willing to obtain)
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, influencing and planning skills
Excellent analytical and numerical skills
