Maintenance person / Caretaker

Safe Harbor is a family run Residential Care Home provider operating in multiple locations across Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire. Our locations are:

  • Agnes and Arthur - Bradeley - ST6 7NG
  • Florence House - Porthill - ST5 0AE
  • The Place up Hanley - Bucknall - ST2 9HP

We are dedicated to developing quality environments and high standards of care, which enable residents to enjoy life to the full, as individuals, in happy, comfortable, and safe surroundings.

We have a number of areas where we want to improve our care homes internally and/or externally. The main body of work which we are looking to complete will consist of decorating, joinery, plumbing, groundwork and installing new en suite facilities in the homes however compliance tests could also be required.

We are looking to recruit a number of skilled individuals to work with our current staff members at either one or multiple sites on an ad hoc (0hr basis) however we do have plenty of work planned.

You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of routine building, maintenance, and repair jobs, with minimum disruption to the care home

You will be accountable for compliance with the Health and Safety At Work Act, COSHH, service contract and inspections. Occasionally, you will be required to respond to off duty emergencies within the home. We are looking for a friendly and approachable individual. You will have previous experience of working in a maintenance role.

You will understand the importance of keeping high standards in and around the home. As the Maintenance Person you will positively promote excellent health and safety standards within and around the home, supporting the home manager to maintain a safe environment for residents in our care.

So as a Maintenance Person what do you need to do to make this happen?

  • Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the Care Home and surrounding grounds; ensuring excellent first Impressions to all who visit.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation and serviceability of all services such as heating, lighting, plumbing and non-medical equipment required for the safe and efficient operation of the Home.
  • Work positively with the Home Manager and senior team to achieve outcomes for the longer-term tasks such as refurbishment, non-day-to-day servicing, redecoration etc.
  • Take an active role in the monitoring of any risk areas regarding the Homes operations and security and advise the Home Manager accordingly.
  • Maintain the home as a pleasant, friendly and secure place to live.
  • Oversight of our heating systems, fire checks, and general safety checks.
