Feridax (1957) Ltd is the UKs largest wholesale distributor of motorcycle and cycle clothing and accessories. Our in-house brand, Spada, has been going since 1994. All research and development is carried out from our headquarters in Halesowen. Spada is a well know brand in the motorcycle industry; following the success of the brand we have recently branched out into the development of mountain bike (MTB) clothing and dog apparel.We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Garment Technologist to provide proactive assistance to the Product Development Manager. This is a thrilling time to join the Spada brand on our journey into new markets, with the opportunity to become part of a vibrant team, offering scope for development of yourself and your role.
Due to the PPE requirements of motorcycle garments the candidate will be required to participate in the process of obtaining CE/CA certification for all new Spada motorcycle garments. All training will be provided.
Key responsibilities:
• Organisation and monitoring of the CE/CA certification process for all Spada motorcycle garments
• Creating and editing technical packs for use by suppliers and, where applicable, in CE/CA certification
• Approving lab dips and samples
• Collation of bill of materials (BOM) for each garment
• Uploading CE/CA certifications to the Spada website
• Good knowledge of fabrics, technical components and sewing techniques
• An understanding of complex garment construction
• Timely receipt and recording of all samples
• Attending fittings sessions, recording fitting comments and instructing factories overseas
• Completion of Quality Control (QC) processes for newly received products
• Close communication with suppliers
• Keeping up to date with processes and updating critical paths.
• Input designing and developing new ranges including co-presenting to internal stakeholders with the Product Development Manager
• General assistance to the Product Development Manager
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
• BA or equivalent qualification in a fashion related subject
• Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
Skills:
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Show a passion/understanding of apparel construction
• Organised and confident with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to work well in a team
• Proactive and motivated approach to work
• Experience/interest in the fashion or motorcycle industries is desirable
• Time management of assigned tasks and ability to prioritise
Pandemic permitting, there may be a requirement for international travel to carry out business with existing and prospective suppliers.
