Mansfield District Council is looking for three friendly Gallery Assistants to make sure Mansfield Museum is clean, welcoming and safe.

These are funded posts from the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Better by Change project. Therefore this job is only open to people with disabilities or long-term health conditions.

There aren’t enough disabled people working in theatres and museums. We want to change this. We’ve created some new jobs, and only people with a disability can apply so that we can make museums more welcoming for disabled people.

If you’d like to apply to be one of our new Gallery Assistants, you’ll need to send us your CV. Your CV will need to tell us what you’ve done in other jobs, your hobbies or volunteering and how that will help you to be a good Gallery Assistant.

You can read more about what we’re looking for in the Job Description and Personal Specification.

Email your CV to recruitment@mansfield.gov.uk. We’ll stop accepting CVs at 12pm on 31 July, so please send your CV before then. If your skills and experience match what we’re looking for, you will be invited to attend an informal interview.

This job is 8 hours a week and we can be flexible but you may need to work some weekends.

This is a fixed term post, which means you’ll be working in this job with us for 12 months. After that we’ll be supporting you to take your next steps.

Getting a job does not mean giving up all your benefits. Some benefits may carry on, and others may be available once you’re working, including Access to Work. If you would like to talk to someone about applying for this job and your benefits please contact Jodie Henshaw, Museum Curator or call her on 01623 463539.

Disabled people don’t always get the same chances in life, so we’re not expecting you to have all the skills and experience you’ll need straight away. We’re looking for someone who likes to learn, and this role will include lots of help along the way.

You can chat about the role with Jodie Henshaw, Museum Curator or call her on 01623 463539.
