About Us

If you’re part of the Environment Agency (EA), you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment and tackling issues of national importance. We’re based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries and conservation.

Such broad scope of work calls for diverse, multi-skilled teams. Together, we’ll promote sustainable growth, tackle climate change and secure a better future for everyone.

Your role with us

From Hinkley Point C to the Lower Thames Crossing, we offer specialist advice on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) to the Planning Inspectorate and NSIP developers. By providing expert technical support and regulatory advice on flood risk and coastal change, you’ll help to accelerate completion of key infrastructure. Working with key stakeholders and their technical representatives, you’ll build trusted working relationships and influence planning decisions to ensure current and future flood risks and coastal change are considered and managed.

What do I need?

A credible and authoritative expert in flood risk and coastal change, you’ll have experience of delivering environmental improvements through others.

You will need:
  • Technical knowledge of national planning and policy, and environmental regulations such as EIA and Environmental Permitting Regulations
  • A good grounding in climate change allowances and adaptation measures, sustainable drainage systems, and flood risk assessment and mitigation measures
  • Skills in team work, influencing and communication
  • An ability to work flexibly and respond to competing demands in a time-pressured environment
  • Experience in delivering environmental improvements through others

What’s in it for you?

You’ll benefit from a culture that embraces difference and includes everyone, where you’ll feel supported and trusted to do the right thing. We’ll invest in you and allow you to grow and shape your career.

What’s more, you’ll have access to our great benefits package including:
  • A competitive salary of £37,462
  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
  • Great career opportunities
  • Maternity, paternity and adoption leave scheme
  • A range of flexible working options
