Job description

Senior Project Officer
The Senior Project Officer enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the Project Manager through the operation of project management processes. The responsibilities could include establish and maintaining project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status. Ensuring organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Monitor project spend and contribute to the compliance of budgets and the development of the business case.

Assistant Project Manager
Working alongside Project Managers and reporting to the Programme Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will manage projects on a day-to-day basis; be responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of projects to ensure the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints; adhere to project governance; and work with stakeholders to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised. Ultimately they will work as part of a team of delivery professionals to deliver projects and contribute towards the successful accomplishment of the programme objectives

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities could include the following:

  • Create and lead the projects to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Day to day management and leadership of the project and any project team members. Set project controls. Design the project structure appropriate to the stage. Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies.
  • Develop and draft the Business Case.
  • Build the project plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objective. Identify and set appropriate project controls. Track and report delivery against milestones.
  • Track delivery of the project within budget.
  • Where appropriate, ensure appropriate benefits realisation strategy is in place.
  • Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.
  • Identify project risk and issues. Manage mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.
  • Provide key reports and support governance and decision making.
  • Support or set appropriate project assurance.
  • Ensure effective change management processes are in place to agree and
  • Document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.

Technical skills

  • Good understanding of project and/or programme management methodologies, tools and techniques including; planning, scheduling, quality management, dependency management, risk/issue management, governance/stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven track record of managing a medium or small complexity project or working as a member of a large or medium complexity project team or as a specialist or workstreams lead for small, low complexity project
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate experience in the management of change within Projects
