The opportunity

As a Programme Director you will lead the UK firm through the significant transformation and associated period of disruption to deliver hybrid working as a new normal operating model.

This position is for the period of 12-18 months and could be extended further to 2 years.

Your Key Responsibilities

The programme director is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the transformational Future of Work and will:
  • Work with EY leadership & SLLs to develop and evolve an inspiring vision and strategy for Hybrid Working within EY.
  • Set, implement, and review programme objectives/activities ensuring they are aligned to that strategy and the broader firm’s strategies.
  • Access and combine internal/external best practice and insights and other data points to steer, challenge and validate the programme’s thinking and direction helping to drive an exceptional EY experience.
  • Provide leadership, advice, and challenge to the programme workstream leaders and members on the scope and prioritisation of each workstream.
  • Own senior stakeholder relationships (e.g., sponsors, steering committee members, working group members).
  • Identify, propose, and implement continuous process improvements.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management
  • Develop & maintain strong relationships both internally and externally with the aim of ensuring EY hybrid working align with the firms needs and industry best practice.
  • Develop networks and strategic relationships with Business stakeholders, to build an understanding of priorities across the organisation and sight of how other regions are approaching the move to Hybrid Working.
  • Highlight the impact, outcomes & outputs of the programme and promote its successes amongst stakeholders.
  • Deliver regular updates and communications of programme information, highlighting risks and opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders, developing an informed and committed audience where you will drive behavioural change.
  • Coordinate with other programmes and function teams to maximise alignment on relevant projects, identify dependencies, overlapping projects and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Influence key stakeholders to align their thinking across the Future Of Work programme and manage the complexities of typical working practices driving behavioural change.

Project & Change Management
  • Ensure best practice programme governance, methods and reporting is implemented and monitored across all initiatives.
  • Own overall programme plans, resources, budgets, quality, risks & issues associated.
  • Define and manage the programmes budget against agreed plans and protocols- including project costs, forecasting & tracking actuals.
  • Manage the impact of change into the organisation, assessing populations impacted and schedule associated to minimize disruption to the business.
  • Help embed a spirit of change leadership, innovation, and disruption in the programme and in how Hybrid Working is implementing wider within EY.
  • Work in hand with the Communications & Engagement team to create an inspiring and consistent narrative for Hybrid Working within EY.

People Management
  • Lead a team of senior resources to deliver the programme assigned across matrix reporting structure.
  • Programme resourcing – Assign resources to initiatives mapping need to skillset, experience, and competencies.
  • Set work structures and methods for the team to follow within the programme to adopt & provide coaching.
  • Provide coaching to team members as required, connect members and support learning or knowledge resources.

Financial & Commercial Management
  • Define and manage programme budget against agreed plans and protocols, including estimating project costs, forecasting, tracking actuals.
  • Manage internal and external party commercial agreement process working with UKI Supplier Relationship Management and Procurement. Ensuring protocols are followed including - due diligence, negotiations, and approvals.
  • Ensure internal and external parties deliver to agreed scope and levels of quality. Progress should be tracked and reported on
  • Review invoices related to programmes ensuring accuracy against approved amounts in line with the completion of agreed deliverables/activities

Key attributes for success
  • Experience in managing large transformational programmes throughout whole lifecycle.
  • Experience of maintaining strong senior stakeholder relationships with the ability to flex their style accordingly to influence is key.
  • Will have a track record of being able to navigate their way around diverse and complex organisational structures/relationships.
  • Excellent people management skills, previous team management and motivation of teams essential.
  • Experience in the fields of real estate, workplace, technology or talent change desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of the methodologies and processes for project and change management including but not limited to financial, resource, stakeholder and risk planning and management.
  • Ability to operate pragmatically at strategic level and integrate with existing projects or programmes to develop, maintain, and execute on a strategic roadmap.
  • Ability to operate calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong self-starter.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong analytical mind.
  • Strong personal awareness and credibility in their chosen field(s).
  • Strong commercial understanding.
  • Strong communication skills (oral/written).
  • Enthusiastic, committed and determined.
