ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

The Furnace Mechanical Engineer will maintain the integrity of all Furnaces, associated protective systems and ancillaries across the KG Asset. With rigour and technical expertise, you will provide discipline support to the successful delivery of the Furnace Overhaul Programme as a dedicated member of the Furnace Team, as well as to Operations, Maintenance, Technical and Planning.

Key accountabilities

  • Specify Furnace Outage work scope requirements (in accordance with asset strategy) and act as technical lead in the delivery of the pre-engineering, planning and field execution phases of the Furnace Overhaul Programme.
  • Delivery of the INEOS 20 Principles for Behavioural and Process Safety, thereby promoting plant integrity and personal safety.
  • Maintain, Optimise and Deliver asset care policies for Furnaces and all associated items of equipment, thereby furthering ongoing asset reliability, protective systems integrity and cost control programmes.
  • Drive compliance with legislative requirements, engineering standards, procedures and practices related to all mechanical equipment within the Furnace boundary.
  • Maintain asset spares and equipment holding for Furnaces, to maximise asset reliability and to drive maintenance and TAR efficiency/cost performance.
  • Provide discipline expertise and root cause analysis in troubleshooting Furnace equipment vulnerabilities, to minimise impact on the short through long term operating plan.
  • Provide discipline expertise for all asset improvement projects and act as formal discipline sign off to ensure required level of service delivery.
  • Train, coach and mentor individuals in the department to fully deliver their roles and develop further capabilities and competences.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Have a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Be chartered with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (or in the process of gaining chartership within an identified timescale).
  • Have engineering experience in a similar or equivalent industry.
  • Have a strong understanding of discipline legislative and technology requirements.
  • Demonstrate ability to appropriately derive equipment inspection and maintenance regimes.
  • Have knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques, reliability tools and vulnerability analysis.
  • Have a logical, proactive and methodical approach to problem solving with the ability to recognise key issues.
  • Be enthusiastic, highly motivated and prepared to work flexibly in a changing environment.
  • Have the ability to influence others via positive working relationships.
  • Be willing to take responsibility and lead on issues both within and out with defined role.
