Fundraising Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Contract: Part-time, 21 hours

Salary: £18,300 to £22,100 pro rata & dependent on experience

Location: Ross-on-Wye

Closing: Sunday 11th July 2021

Interviews: Week commencing 19th July 2021

At the Marine Conservation Society, we’re at the heart of the movement to save our seas as the UK’s leading marine charity. From getting people to the beach to take part in litter picks, to campaigning for better protections for our seas and encouraging people to make sustainable seafood choices, we’re advocates for our ocean and the communities and wildlife which rely upon it.

To enable us to succeed in our aim for seas full of life, we need to nurture and grow income from existing and new partnerships and we are looking for a motivated Fundraising Assistant to play an active role in our fundraising initiatives and provide support for our high-achieving team.

Providing an excellent standard of administrative support is core to the role, but it doesn’t stop there - you will be able to take responsibility for specific donor communications and initiatives both on community, events and corporate fundraising activities and our trust and grants programme. Efficient and effective support makes it possible for our fundraising team to maximise the opportunities and enable our vital work to make changes for our marine environments.

No two days will be the same – you’ll be keeping our database accurate, supporting our supporters and fundraisers in the community, actively researching new corporate contacts, handling enquiries over the phone and in emails from our existing and potentially new community and corporate donors – ample opportunities to demonstrate your excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.

You will be a self-starter, used to supporting a motivated team in a busy environment, and confident in your ability to take a proactive approach when managing a varied and busy workload.

Key Skills

- Proven organisational and administrative skills preferably supporting a team – able to plan and deliver within tight deadlines

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in order to represent the organisation with potential and existing donors, individual supporters and our colleagues

- Confident when speaking to people on the phone, in person and in emails

- Demonstrate an approachable and supportive style, with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude

How to apply

Select the apply button and go to our Jobs page. Download the information pack and include a cover letter with your CV which tells us why you would like to work with us, and how you meet the role and person specification. We value this element of the application, so make sure you include it.

We prefer an anonymous process, so leave out any personal information in both your CV and cover letter as we prefer to shortlist without it.

We understand that interviews can be difficult for some people who have a condition or disability that they live with. We want to make it as easy as possible for every candidate to shine during their application process, so please let us know what we can do to accommodate you.

For any enquiries email or telephone our HR team.
