A Functional Skills Tutor is needed for or a specialist Autism school for 16-25 year old learners for a September start. This role will be a permanent or long-term supply role depending on what is discussed at interview. Candidates should have had experience of working with people with autism and additional needs in education. The successful candidate would require a PGCE/Cert Ed giving QTS or QTLS or equivalent Level 5 teaching qualification. You will be working with ASD learners, either one to one as small groups with a team of TAs.

Activities range from helping pupils with work set to taking them on day trips. You will be very well supported by experienced staff. The pupils follow a life skills programme of work which includes core subjects of Maths and English.

Experience of teaching basic Maths and English would be an advantage. If you are artistic, musical or sporting, there will be opportunities to lead these activities too. You will have or be prepared to obtain a DBS check and we will need to carry out our vetting checks in a face to face interview or virtual interview. In addition, we will need to take up at least two references. We are a teacher run agency based in Sunderland.
