Main Purpose Of The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our marketing team, based in Batley, West Yorkshire.

We’re looking for a talented individual to utilise their web systems knowledge in this interesting and varied role to support the Digital Marketing Manager in the creation, maintenance, coding, innovative design and layout of our website and company intranet.

This role is ideal for an individual who really enjoys working as part of a relatively small team with a wide remit, working closely within the marketing team as well as the wider business, to define requirements to propose valuable solutions/recommendations in order to provide the very best possible user experience.

We’re looking for a personable, hard-working individual with high levels of attention to detail. You should be a great team player, good multi tasker and have strong problem solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front-end (including knowledge of UX design) and back-end development for HSL WordPress and Umbraco websites.
  • Design, development and build of the internal intranet platform.
  • Updating the existing website to ensure user friendly design and clear navigation.
  • Organising and managing day-to-day tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Working and communicating regularly with other team members across the business to understand digital requirements and offer support for the various departments.
  • Build develop and maintain our websites, must be familiar with WordPress and Umbraco and able to work with WordPress functions.
  • Good solid understanding of HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, .NET and C#.
  • Work alongside our creative and design teams to produce any digital assets required and assist in upload of graphical content for our websites.
  • Design and code responsive email marketing templates/campaigns HTML and CSS. Familiar with working with Campaign Monitor, MailChimp or other related APIs.
  • Manage WordPress, PHP, MySQL and server updates (should be familiar with Linux systems).
  • Work alongside our agency to implement any technical and content updates for SEO purposes.
  • Experience working with APIs and web hooks

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Keen eye for design and development best practice and a detailed understanding and interpretation of current trends.
  • Good experience in creating and building fully functioning, custom, responsive designs.
  • An understanding and desire to operate using up to date development practices.
  • Excellent working knowledge of WordPress and Umbraco; developing both back and front end.
  • Experience in setting up your own local testing environment for testing websites across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Experience and knowledge of GIT and version control is essential. Should be familiar with GitHub or BitBucket.
  • Understanding of usability principles, web security considerations, web accessibility and GDPR principles.
  • Experience with digital marketing tools such as Google AdWords, Analytics, PPC etc
  • Familiarity with video/animation for web would be an advantage.
  • Contribution to the future direction of our website(s); proactively suggesting ways in which we can improve - bring new ideas to the table.
  • SEO- knowledge of, plus experience preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, and Adobe Photoshop / graphic design would also be advantageous.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills, writing skills and people skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of DNS, nameservers, networks and email security protocols (such as DMARC) are desirable
