The Opportunity: If you are currently employed as an Assistant Manager and eager to take the next step in your career, this could be the perfect next step. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our soft fruit division, including planning, production, picking estimates, quality control, and sales logistics. You will lead a dedicated team and work closely with the family team to achieve strategic objectives, optimise productivity, and ensure the highest standards of product quality. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a deep understanding and passion for soft fruit growing.

The Company:With a rich history spanning multiple generations, this family-owned business grows table-top strawberries and a variety of other berries in its tunnels. They continue to revolutionise the way they grow and deliver the highest quality soft fruit to their customers.

Skills/Experience Required:

Essential

  • Previous experience of working within the soft fruit industry
  • The personality to manage and inspire a team of growers, supervisors, and support staff, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to meet or exceed industry standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and customer requirements
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and implementing best practices across all operations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships all levels
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude

Desirable

  • Extensive experience in soft fruit cultivation, preferably with a focus on berries such as strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries
  • Proven leadership experience within the agricultural industry
  • Polish or Russian speaking an advantage
