At GSK’s Worthing manufacturing site we are now looking to recruit two Client Specialists to manage the Tablet Packaging Operations for the upcoming Japan Project.

Job Purpose:

This seconded/fixed term contract role of Operations Client Specialist will be to act as Subject Matter Expert / departmental representative on a capital project to install new equipment on one of the packing lines. You will support and learn where needed with FATS / SATS, installation, commissioning & qualification, training, and act as departmental SME for the systems in future. You will lead the effort to update/generate SOPs with support from the Operations Engineering function to document operational aspects of new equipment in the lead up to and after equipment qualification. Due to the quality expectations of the specific market, you will liaise with the quality function to implement processes to improve quality culture on the packing line to sustain consistent and high quality of supply in the future.

During the transition from project to business-as-usual, you may be asked to provide technical day to day support for Orals Packaging Operations and Systems (from an operational perspective). This includes provision of trouble-shooting support for production processes and equipment, as well as supporting process and technical investigations (including corrective and preventative actions and internal problem notifications) for the new packing line. You will also support and own key compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities (include):

During Project Execution:

  • Support where required with enabling works during shutdown, installation, commissioning and qualification of new packaging equipment, associated document generation and become the Operations SME on the packing line.
  • Design of and set up of training plans (liaising with site training team), training of other technicians in preparation for transition of project to business-as-usual.
  • Completion of any relevant Technical or Compliance training for new equipment to ensure current with requirements of role.
  • Ensuring full compliance with EHS and Quality requirements in any project activities completed.
  • Liaise with the quality function to implement processes to improve quality culture on the packing line to sustain consistent and high quality of supply in the future.


During Transition to business-as-usual:

  • Provide troubleshooting support for production processes and equipment. Support process and technical investigations, including corrective and preventative actions and internal problem notifications.
  • Supporting and in some cases owning key compliance processes and activities aligned to the value stream, including but not limited to, Self Inspections, VRRs, deviation management, safety sampling, Risk Management (Local and RMS), Laboratory Investigation / Plant Investigations, CAPA, Customer and Vendor complaints, and planned change.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the Worthing Orals Business through robust problem solving and continuous improvement, tracking and ensuring beneficial delivery of corrective actions, preventative actions and minor projects for department against measurable targets
  • Support inspection readiness and manage Audit activities across the aligned department.
  • Ensure correct content is supplied to governance meeting through generation of data for governance packs etc., to enable the department / site to make informed decisions based on data.
  • Support updates and maintenance of key documentation in the production areas.

Secondment/Fixed Term Contract:This role is a fixed term opportunity (circa 1-year in duration). Please ensure you have spoken with your line-manager prior to applying (your application should be supported and you will need a timely release from your duties if you are successful in your application).

This role would suit a self-motivated individual, ideally qualified to degree-level (or with strong relevant experience gained in an appropriate working environment). We are seeking a good people-person, who is resilient and calm, with a complete focus on providing solutions. A continuous improvement mindset is also needed.

About Worthing Manufacturing Site:

Basic Qualifications / Experience:

  • Degree level qualification (or strong equivalent experience) in an appropriate scientific, technical or engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge/understanding of tablet-packaging will be beneficial.
