Create your own responsibility for all aspects of process development, you will work alongside your peers, NPD, production, technical and procurement to bring new concepts to reality, whilst advising on production feasibility and assessing/improving existing capability.

With a core focus on delivering for our customers, you will;

  • Support the concept development stage, with particular emphasis on the feasibility and refinement of products before submission.
  • Own the delivery of all product launches from formal concept Handover stage (post customer sign off) through to post launch review.
  • Manage EPD trial work, proactively suggesting solutions and improvements to the process and ensure operational, product development and technical teams and full engaged and committed to critical path delivery.
  • Support the concept team on innovation projects.
  • Identify and help implement operational improvements to existing processes.
  • Continuously look for process improvements that result in commercial benefit such as yield efficiencies and new processes that streamline the end-to-end process.


As a manager owning the process you will play a key role in ensuring that all team members are supported and that procedures are followed, delivering best in class products for our customers, delivered right first time.

  • Fully understands both Pilgrim’s and Customers requirements for NPD/EPD processes and be able to meet and exceed expectations with the timely delivery of products and supporting product information.
  • Manages the factory process development associated with NPD/EPD projects and oversees / performs factory trials in line with agreed critical paths. These will include initial feasibility trials, factory-scale trials & pre-production trials along with first production runs. Acts as the factory’s quality champion up to post launch review and sign off.
  • In conjunction with Production, Engineering, Concept Development & Technical teams, manages the EPD trial process that result in improvements to the production process and efficiency.
  • Ensures NPD/EPD is seamlessly trialled to balance delivery against critical paths and minimising factory disruption.
  • Ensures that any relevant process and equipment limitations are raised during the early development stages of NPD – be proactive in suggesting alternative solutions to production issues. Work with the Concept / NPD Manager to evaluate all product quality/consistency risks and establish relevant controls prior to introduction of a new process, product, or raw material.
  • With full data gathering responsibilities from factory trials (such as yields, labour inputs, changeovers, etc) enables commercial visibility of products through the development process by providing required cost information.
  • Provides a management and strategic overview of process development, reporting on trial progress, agreeing trial schedules, and proactively participating in problem solving activities.
  • Manages the agenda for pre-production / launch days ensuring customer expectations are met and wherever possible exceeded. Carries out the role of Quality champion up to post launch review and sign off
  • Ensures that any relevant food safety legislation and product quality factors are considered during development of new products, proactively working with the Concept Manager, and influencing at the feasibility stage.

Completion of accurate data and paperwork required to ensure products meet customer requirements, this includes customer and internal systems and documents such as QAS and post launch analysis, building in continual improvement.

  • Have a strong background in food manufacturing experience within a process role
  • Be comfortable within a meat manufacturing environment
  • Strong personal organisation skills capable of initiating, prioritising and managing several projects simultaneously
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence others.
  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to work at fast pace
  • A strong blend of can do and right first time with a tenacity for problem solving
