Contract: Full time, Permanent

Location: Magna Park

Salary: £55,000 plus car / car allowance, 33 days holiday, pension, bonus, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits scheme

As Head of Operations you will lead the H3G operations team and manage all site related compliance activity ensuring adherence to all audit requirements. You will develop and deliver a culture of continuous improvement through deployment and training of The Unipart Way, and will demonstrate leadership across the site developing relationships with all accounts to provide industry leading standards of logistics. You will engage with the wider UL operations teams to deliver best practice across the UL estate, and will develop a dynamic, motivated and skilled operational team delivering world class customer experience at optimal level of operating efficiency.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

  • Be responsible for all Magna site compliance including HSE, Fire, CSR, Environment and other site adherence as appropriate
  • Deliver ‘The Unipart Way’ objectives across the site
  • Ensure operations teams have appropriate ‘Gate to Great’ journeys planned with training available to ensure delivery
  • Develop Magna Park as a showcase site ensuring all appropriate branding and promotional material is in place and up to date
  • Be responsible for site adherence to Business Continuity planning regular reviewing plans to meet changing environment issues
  • Assist the operational teams to maximise risk and reward opportunities
  • Work in conjunction with all support functions to create a succession plan across all accounts creating appropriate development opportunities in line with individual development plans
  • Be responsible for adherence and deployment of operations PDM including regular project review against aims
  • Be involved in the Magna site forum process ensuring that employees have access to the forum process
  • Be responsible for compliance with Health and Safety regulations and environmental and quality standards
  • Ensure that all site QA processes are reviewed and adhered to
  • Ensure operational teams processes are in line with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Engage in external logistics operations benchmarking to capture industry leading operations initiatives
  • Support with operational Project Scoping, Planning, and Costing
  • Be the site lead in all security related activities
  • Be responsible for driving the efficiency within the warehouse including space and layout
  • Be a key stakeholder for our UL facilities support team ensuring that the Magna site is maintained to an appropriate standard and any site changes are scheduled and planned appropriately
  • Be a key stakeholder for our Resource supply agency liaising where appropriate to ensure the correct level of resource quality is maintained
  • Build and maintain strong mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers / customers and colleagues
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement to deliver operational and client relation improvements
  • Proactively and effectively communicate with appropriate teams, highlighting all relevant issues, in order to ensure employee engagement
  • Maintain and manage company policies and be responsible for your teams to do the same
  • Produce a roadmap of customer experience and cost efficiency benefits seeking new opportunities to deliver benefit share

About You

  • Clear leadership, energy and passion
  • Experience of managing Audits and compliance with legislation – e.g. health and safety, environmental
  • Exemplary levels of technical knowledge of warehousing and distribution and related systems
  • Proven ability to manage large teams – team building, resource planning, development, coaching
  • Ability to work across multiple client accounts
  • Ability to manage and work under pressure in a challenging, fast moving, volume driven and constantly changing environment
  • Experience of managing or implementing large projects
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills with your team, your colleagues, and with clients to ensure solid relationships
  • Financial awareness – budgetary knowledge
  • Planning, organising, and forecasting
  • Six Sigma Green Belt +
  • Process and value stream mapping
