Rayner is a leading developer and manufacturer of ophthalmic implants and pharmaceuticals; it specialises in intraocular lenses (IOL’s) and related products used in cataract surgery and refractive surgery. Since the development of the first IOL, Rayner has continuously pioneered IOL design with a goal to improve vision and restore sight worldwide.

This is a great opportunity to lead the streamlined operation of the IT department and ensure it aligns with the overall business objectives of Rayner, as we embark on a very exciting growth period.
You will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department and will provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions across the business, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development
- Develop and manage application portfolios for each department and attain all IT service level agreements within Rayner
- Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies
- Develop and review budgets for and from IT department divisions and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives
- Manage IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organising and negotiating the allocation of resources
- Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organisations
- Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs
- Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
Experience:
Essential
- Relevant degree and evidence of continuous professional development in an IT role; ITIL qualification
- Significant experience managing and/or directing an IT/IS operation
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development
- Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
- Experience of presenting to boards and executive teams
- Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Proven experience in managing remote offices with additional experience in setting up remote offices in new territories
Desirable
- Medical Device/Pharmaceutical industry experience
