Overview
Wincanton have an exciting now role for a Group Operational Training Quality Manager to join the Operational Training Team.. This is a home based/hybrid role with regular travel to Wincanton sites, a company car is provided.
Candidates will ideally be based in the Midlands area.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external quality & regulatory requirements in relation to qualifications and accredited learning programmes, as well as broader working practices that underpin Wincanton’s Operational Training operation. In addition, this individual will manage the relationships with the awarding bodies for qualification requirements and be responsible for ensuring internal programmes are continuously reviewed and updated in line with these requirements, legislation amendments and industry best practice.
How will you contribute?
  • Maintain Wincanton’s high quality and standards in all specialist areas within Operational Training: HSEQ Training, MHE Training, Driver Training
  • Own the operational processes and standards for Wincanton’s Operational Training
  • Manage and liaise with key external relations with relevant awarding organisations, trade associations and regulated bodies to ensure our operation meets the required standards with all internal programmes
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of regulators for our qualifications and accredited learning provision
  • Responsible for the timely review and maintenance of course training materials to ensure they are always up to date with relevant material and legally compliant
  • To ensure parity of teacher training standards across all training courses in Wincanton’s Operational Training portfolio, identifying best practice internally and externally to drive improvements in provision
  • Govern subcontractors working for Wincanton to ensure the highest possible standards
  • Manage internal compliance of governance processes, with responsibility for internal quality audits across the Training team, identifying strengths and weaknesses in provision to drive continuous improvement
  • Drive appropriate levels of standardisation and CPD
  • Manage a team of Operational Training Quality Assurers
  • Act as an Independent role in investigations relating to training such as plagiarism, complaints or unfair treatment
  • Evaluate success and impact of training given across Wincanton and the Operational Training team
  • Work with the Operational Training team and wider business to identify opportunities to increase the training offering
  • To liaise with Divisional Training Managers / Operational Training Senior Management Team to ensure training offering supports business needs and feedback any concerns following discussions in training courses
  • To produce timely and accurate reports for training analysis
What will you bring?
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality assurance processes and working practices
  • Experience and knowledge working awarding organisations and awarding bodies
  • TAQA Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement – Level 3 or equivalent
  • Quality Assurance qualification: TAQA Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – Level 4 or equivalent
  • Experience achieving and maintaining awarding body status
  • Experience of working in the teaching and training sectors
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety practices
  • Dynamic and creative
  • Confident and proficient at writing and delivering presentations
  • Strong communication skills and verbally articulate
  • Highly organized
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Consistent, polite, approachable and helpful
  • Open to new ideas and keen to explore new methods of training delivery and governance

Desirable but not essential:

  • Formal training qualification i.e. PTLLS, BTEC Award in Education and Training (L3) or above
  • Experience conducting internal audits
  • Experience in developing/reviewing learning content
  • Experience in delivering courses
