Main purpose of the role

Sound United makes cutting edge products that requires a highly specialised global supply chain. We are expanding and investing in the Strategic Procurement function to develop our supply chain commercial engagement capabilities, in order to best support the UK operations. The Procurement team at Sound United has a presence across 3 continents, and you will be working with colleagues across these regions to ensure an aligned and efficient Procurement strategy supporting our multiple brands. The role of Global Commodity Manager will be focused on identifying, securing and managing a world class supplier network for the Worthing manufacturing operation where we produce our award winning 800 series and Nautilus products. Your remit will of course cover existing product lines, but also to increase and improve our involvement in new product introduction sourcing/Procurement activities, in parallel with cross-functional stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage supplier relationships, developing long term partnerships
  • Work with R&D/Engineering to execute sourcing activities for all new product introductions
  • Identify future sources of supply that will enhance our supply network
  • Obtain best possible pricing for bought out finished components, measured on a total landed cost basis
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, implementing improvement plans as necessary
  • Implement and maintain appropriate commercial agreements with suppliers, mitigating risk to Sound United as far as possible
  • Utilise supplier scorecards to improve supplier performance
  • Contribute to the development and execution of commodity/supplier strategies to drive incremental improvements
  • Lead quarterly review meetings with key suppliers, reviewing their performance and strategic alignment
  • Ensure accurate part records are in place in the ERP system
  • Point of escalation for any material availability or supplier quality issues
  • Follow established processes such as sourcing, supplier management, supplier evaluation
  • Proactively participate in all process improvement activities internally and externally
  • Work with operations team to optimise inventory
  • Manage supply chain ‘ramp down’ activities as projects reach the end of production

Required Qualifications

  • Degree educated or equivalent work experience
  • Good interpersonal skills and a forward thinking/continuous improvement mindset
  • Background working as part of Strategic Procurement teams
  • Expert at Strategic Procurement best practice including category/commodity management, total landed cost
  • Experience managing suppliers/partners at a strategic and senior level
  • Demonstrated capabilities in successful supplier negotiations
  • Excellent understanding of supplier contractual agreements and documents
  • Knowledge of Procurement Sourcing processes and execution including supplier evaluation, selection & control
  • MS Office expertise, in particular Excel
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally if required (circa 10-15%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MCIPS qualified
  • Direct material Procurement experience
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Experience working with a global Procurement team and supply chain
